My Inspirations

As a creative individual, my inspirations are taken from a range of places. I draw inspiration from the experiences provided by my family and friends. Their stories, perspectives, and the shared moments of joy and challenges inspire my design choices. I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world and it regularly plays a part in my work due to the positive impact its had on my life. My design style involves playing around with colour, pattern and texture. This is largely taken from travel and the exploration of new places/countries as different cultures and history are at the base of nearly every project i've done.

My Vision

As a graphic designer, my vision changes daily due to the ever changing world of design and my skills, however, my core values remain the same.

I see design as a powerful means of self-expression, problem-solving and impact, allowing me to convey my unique ideas and perspectives visually. I am passionate about user experience, branding, motion graphics and editorial design and view my role as a creative problem solver. My vision involves finding innovative solutions, creating designs that communicate effectively and to make a positive impact through my work.

I am constantly growing and evolving as a designer and my vision will be further impacted by my journey and experiences through life.

Alan R. Hurndall, Author

“I was first hooked up with Maddie when she was recommended by an academic colleague.

He was impressed by her potential and thought would do a good job for a self-publisher like me with a limited budget.

The story I was publishing was about a serial killer centred on Chesterfield, with its famous crooked spire. I briefed her that I wanted the cover dark and mysterious and basically left her to it. She fullfilled the brief admirably, giving me several options with different fonts and in different colours. Her finished work has been remarked upon several friends and readers. Yes, you can judge a book by its cover and I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any type of book design across any genre.”

Nadia Murrell, RAOS Member

“RAOS is an 80 year old charity, which recently converted its charitable status. As part of this we wanted to update our branding with a new logo, and create an additional logo for a new arm of the charity.  It was important to us that the RAOS logos maintained some of our heritage, but reflected a more modern organisation and the logo for the new arm of the business reflected what we do.

Maddie was a delight to work with, she listened to our needs, understood our rationale and delivered exactly to the brief we gave her.  In addition, Maddie also provided a number of alternative designs for our consideration, which were variations on the brief, but still encompassed the essence of the brief.

Maddie was always very responsive to our feedback, quickly turned around the multiple tweaks we requested, and again provided additional variations on the changes, using her design expertise to ensure we looked ‘outside of the box’ on the options available to us.

We were extremely happy with the engagement, understanding and translation of our brief and the logo designs and options offered by Maddie, and we have now adopted these two logos for use across the charity.”
